Diageo Reserve Invites Bartenders to Start their World Class Journey with a Series of Bespoke World Class Studios

First World Class Studios Session – London, Monday October 30th.

World Class is a truly global competition that can have a genuinely life-changing influence on bartenders who enter it. The 2018 iteration of the competition will crown someone ‘World Class Bartender of the Year’, with a prize to accompany the accolade worth something in the region of £15,000. Having achieved this career-defining milestone, the winning bartender will go on to represent Great Britain at the global final in Berlin, a trip that could be accurately described as ‘once in a lifetime’.

The stakes and rewards are such that any aspiring bartender of all levels of skill and experience could be in with a chance to represent their country globally if they claim the GB 2018 World Class Bartender of the Year title. And that’s where the World Class Studios come in.

The sessions were created to provide bartenders with advanced training based on knowledge and skills from lateral professions, such as culinary science and environmental business consultancy. Although this training will be of great interest and value to any bartender, the World Class Studios obviously have an eye on the challenges to be set during the World Class Competition, and as such, anyone who intends to enter should attend.

The World Class Studios last three hours, and along with an introduction to the GB 2018 World Class Bartender of the Year Competition, will deliver two training sessions:

Heat of the Moment
Heat of the Moment looks at some of the science the culinary world has been using to better understand their profession and the way they work with flavour. The greater spend-per-head and popularity that fine dining enjoys has given chefs the time and money to do extensive flavour research and experimentation, insights that can be easily and effectively transferred into the world of bartending.

The Resourceful Bartender
The Resourceful Bartender goes beneath the surface of sustainability and looks beyond ‘waste’, to examine the hundreds of ways bartenders can be smarter in their approach to the resources they use. Such efficiency can create a better bar, a better
business and a better working environment. It’s also gratifying to know that the
industry can play a part in creating a more sustainable future.
