Imbibe Live: 13th – 14th September 2021, Olympia London
It would appear that the period of living our lives like cave-dwelling hermits is coming to an end. As of yesterday the three-month-long ‘stay at home’ order was lifted, and in two short weeks we can move our drinking from sofas and park benches to pub and bar gardens. And now, on the horizon, looms the prospect of an honest-to-goodness, in-the-flesh trade show, in the form of Imbibe Live.
Held virtually last year, and originally scheduled for July this year, Imbibe Live’s organisers have settled on the revised September dates for an in-person event in order to comply with the Government’s re-opening roadmap. The extra couple of months will also give the trade time to collectively find its feet before getting that weird train from the last platform at Clapham Junction to Olympia, and then spending most of the day in the horrendously crowded pub opposite the exhibition center.
Given where we were just two months ago, the prospect of walking around a giant hall full of people is exciting and, perhaps a little anxiety-inducing for those who have forgotten how to speak to other human beings. In either case, it is excellent news for the trade, and we look forward to doing a lap of the show, drinking some Hobo on the Cask stand, then going to the horrendously crowded pub…
