Leeds Rum Festival: Saturday October 27th, Leeds Corn Exchange, 7pm – Late
Created by Samantha Fish (ops manager, Mojo), Dan Crowther (Hedonist Project), and Bruce Lerman (Hedonist Project), Leeds Rum Festival is returning for a third year.
The festival will provide the familiar mix of sampling and learning opportunities, with some live entertainment and music thrown in for good measure. It is Leeds after all…
Over 100 rum expressions will be available for sampling, alongside masterclasses hosted by industry experts and brand ambassadors (the two not being mutually excluding, of course).
Latitude Wine and The Bottle Shop will be on hand so that visitors can buy a bottle of anything sampled that takes their fancy, and The Rum Shack Bar will keep the crowd lubricated during a Desert Island Disco set.
Samantha Fish says: “Rum is the most diverse spirit category in the world,” says Samantha. “The way it’s made varies massively from country to country resulting in many expressions. In 2016 we decided that its history and diversity deserved to be celebrated – it turned out that hundreds of people agreed with us… Although we believe there is a Rum out there for everyone, we also appreciate that not everyone wants to try and find it, so we have some Whiskies, Mescals and Tequilas to sample too.”
Advance tickets cost £18, and include entry to the festival and all masterclasses. There will be some sort of concession for members of the trade (details TBC), and you can register your interest in a trade ticket by emailing: leedsrumfest@gmail.com
