Only a tiki festival would be affected by their venue burning down but fear not Spirit Of Tiki have found a new home and you can visit it this Friday.
Here’s the rub. Georgi Radev, bar manager of Mahiki and Roger Barnes, life-long rum aficionado have clubbed together to organise a Tiki festival during London Cocktail Week (just in case the LCW Hub wasn’t enough for you).
There will be bars knocking out rum based drinking goodness, a tropical BBQ and an attempt at the world’s largest Pina Colada in a 500 litre artificial pineapple. This is where Don Q and Re’al need your help. They are calling on bartenders to come down to the event and participate in breaking a world record.
Throughout LCW the following brands and bars have teemed up to offer Tiki based drinks so there is no excuse not to get in the Polynesian spirit.
Bacardi/Leblon @ London Cocktail Club, Don Q @ Mahiki, Pusser’s @ Kanaloa, Rum-Bar @ Bronte, Monymusk @ Trailer Happiness, Mount Gay @ Burlock London, Old J @ Rum & Sugar, Skipper @ Barrio Shoreditch, Blackwell @ Barrio Brixton, Elements8 @ Barrio Soho, Santa Teresa @ Barrio Angel, Yaguara @ Dandelyan, Chairman’s Reserve @ Novikov, Ron Cubay @ Magic Roundabout, Green Island @ Piano Works, Tilambic 151 @ Gaucho City
Spirit of Tiki is taking place at The Langham (1C Portland Place, Regent Street, London W1B 1JA) on Friday 7th October from midday till midnight.
We will of course be there with a ridiculously garnished drink in hand, and if you want to find out the latest news follow them on social media #spiritoftiki
