The Fortunella Sour Competition Returns for 2024 – Top Prize £500

Fortunella Golden Orange Liqueur’s debut Sour Competition in 2023 was a huge success, attracting an extraordinary number of entries and some truly beautiful drinks – one of which was created by Lukas Bulika of Harbar on 6th, who nailed the grand final and took home the top prize of £500.

Unsurprisingly, given the response to last year’s competition, the brand’s creator, Lukas Stafin, has announced that the Fortunella Sour Competition will return for 2024, with entries now open until September 30th.

The competition format is refreshingly simple – create your original Fortunella Sour cocktail and submit your specs via email. Once the entry period has ended, a judging panel will asses the entries, with ten bartenders invited to compete at the final in London on October 15th.

Speaking of the final, legendary bartender Marian Beke (Nightjar, Gibson, Bellboy Berlin) will join last year’s winner, Lukas Bulika, on the judging panel. In addition to scoring the finalists, Marian will also lead a masterclass for the ten finalists on the day, and work a guest shift during the post-competition celebrations.

Lukas Stafin says of this year’s Fortunella Sour comp: “After very successful competition in 2023, with incredible turnout on the final day, it was an easy decision to do it again this year. The format is the same, create best version of Fortunella Sour cocktail! This year, I’ve invited Marian Beke to join us as a judge. Marian was helping me during development of Fortunella liqueur, back in 2019, and I’m happy to see him coming to London to do a masterclass, judging and guest shift on 15th of October. It will be amazing day for everyone involved!

Competition Details and Entry

The top three competitors at the grand final will each receive a cash prize: 1st place: £500; 2nd place: £250; 3rd place: £100

Fortunella Sour Rules

• One entry per person.
• The recipe must contain a maximum of 5 ingredients including Fortunella Golden Orange Liqueur.
• Hot ingredients or premixes of any kind are forbidden. Homemade syrups, cordials and shrubs are allowed.
• Recipes must contain a minimum of 40ml of Fortunella Golden Orange Liqueur.
• Recipes must be the original creation of the bartender.
• The cocktail should have a creative name.
• The recipe should be expressed with measurements, as well as garnish, glassware and overall presentation.
• Garnishes must be edible.
• Preparation and mixing instructions must be included with your recipe.
• An image of your cocktail must be included with your recipe.
• A background story/your inspiration can be included in your application.
• Entries should be submitted by email, by 30th of September 2024.
