New to the Manchester bar scene is an independent group of bartenders calling themselves The Liquorists who’s simple mission is to bring back the fun and interest in talking about booze.
The man behind the initiative is Tom Sneesby from The Blackdog Ballroom (who we still haven’t forgiven for helping to destroy us on our recent Manchester trip) who along with Manchester’s finest is kicking off the program this Tuesday– 20th April.
First up is a Bourbon event with help from the folk at Four Roses Bourbon. The day kicks off at 1pm with a drink for everyone on arrival followed by a Four Roses tasting and a general bourbon session. Next up is a blind comp judged by Tom, Jobe Ferguson (the owner of Blackdog) and Bod the national brand manager for Four Roses. Entry is open to all bartenders and all it will cost you is a crisp 10 pound note to go towards the prize money. Contact Tom for more info but the drink must use an expression from the Four Roses portfolio.
After the comp they will be screening the epically fantastic Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid with some scran. That is the good news – the bad news is there will then be a pool comp and if Linden is in attendance keep an eye out for him as he’ll have your money quicker than a shot of Jager!!!
We are gutted we can’t be there ourselves to drink great bourbon, watch a great film and get revenge on the tables but we look forward to hearing all about it and heading up soon.
For more info head to The Liquorists facebook page or pop into Blackdog and see Tom.
