Tony Conigliaro, 69 Colebrook Row owner and archetypal crazy flavour scientist, is to launch his first spirit brand this Summer.
Produced on site at Conigliaro’s ‘Drink Factory’ lab in East London, vacuum stills are used to extract the essence from dried pink rose petal and combine it with neutral grain spirit. This pressure-based distillation process is employed due to its ability to preserve delicate flavours sometimes lost during more traditional, heat-based processes.
Conigliaro has been producing flavoured vodkas in this way for use in his bars for many years, however Woltz’s Rose Petal Vodka is the first to be released as a brand and made available to the trade, and consumers.
From the press release:
“Distilling dried pink rose petals with a neutral grain vodka, Woltz’s Rose Petal Vodka boasts soft floral aromas with a clean dry rose taste and peppery finish. It is incredibly smooth on the palate and can be enjoyed neat on the rocks or in a variety of cocktails such as the Coral Rose Fizz, an elegant and aromatic twist on the champagne cocktail.”
